When The Kaplan Group opened over twenty-five years ago, we had one mission: get our clients paid for all valid unpaid invoices. Our approach is simple, we either successfully collect the debt owed, or we determine that the debtor is out of business and the debt is uncollectible. Our exceptional success rate of 85% on large viable claims should tell you that if you want the money you are owed, we are the collection agency for you. How do we explain our success? Here are a few of the many reasons:
1. We look at each claim we receive and develop a strategy that is specific to the circumstances of that claim. This means that we take the time to study each claim and develop an understanding of your customer before we ever pick up the phone to place our first collection call. We never use auto dialers or a canned letter series approach. Once we are moving forward with the collection effort, we make any necessary adjustments to our strategy to maximize our chances of successfully collecting your money.
2. Our collectors are the best in the business having held high level positions working as business consultants, managers and executives in a wide variety of industries and they have collectively negotiated transactions totaling over $500 million in the USA and globally. Many have earned post graduate degrees including JDs and MBAs. The experience and qualifications of our professionals have resulted in our outstanding 85% success rate on large viable claims.
3. We have an in-house attorney who performs a second complete collection effort if our initial collection effort is not successful, all for the same competitive contingency rate. We solve 97% of our successful claims without ever having to pursue litigation. In those rare instances when going to court is the only way to get you paid, we have a large network of collection attorneys throughout the USA who also work on a contingency basis, and we will help you with the process every step of the way.
The Kaplan Group is the collection agency you can trust to handle all your debt collection issues. Our happy customers have given us an A+ rating on the Better Business Bureau, and we are proud to have received many 5 star online ratings. READY TO COLLECT YOUR MONEY?
We searched for a good, long time to find the right collections group, and Kaplan exceeded our expectations in every. possible. way. They are efficient, courteous, knowledgeable, and proactive. Kaplan Group is unquestionably our most reliable and productive vendor. They’ve helped us collect from people who seemed beyond reach, and always knew what the next steps were. They are amazingly generous with their time and have counseled us on proper course of action even with accounts that were not valuable. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone who asked.

Collection Agency Tips for Indianapolis Businesses
We are often asked by our clients to go after collection fees during our normal collection effort. Here in the USA, this is typically not possible unless there is a signed written agreement between your company and your customer’s company that explicitly states this provision. The same holds true for collecting attorney fees, and just adding the provision to your invoices may not be enough. You need to have your customer sign a document indicating they agree to this provision and we recommend adding the provision to your Credit Application because this is usually filled out by your customer at the very beginning of your working relationship. It is important to include collection costs so that collection agencies are able to add this fee into the principal due amount they are working to recover in the pre-litigation stage of the collection effort. Anticipated attorney fees are not collectible in the pre-litigation stage; they would be added if legal action is taken down the road. Collection costs may or may not be collected by the agency, but having the right to collect them provides the collection agency with significantly more negotiation leverage throughout the debt collection, litigation and judgment collection activities.
