Our Mission

We believe that you should be paid on every valid invoice you generate for services rendered or products purchased.  Throughout the collection effort, we work the claim professionally and consistently until payment is received, or it is determined that your customer is no longer operating.

To accomplish this mission, we have developed a team of debt collectors possessing unsurpassed experience and training.  We’ve had 25 years to refine how we collect and our 85% success rate on large viable claims proves that we are doing it right.  Our exceptional success rate is the reason we can offer our clients very competitive contingency rates (10% – 25%) because on the great majority of the cases we handle, we collect your money and earn our fee.

Our competitors who cut corners by using overseas call centers, auto dialers, script reading collectors or letter series can’t compete with The Kaplan Group.  Our debt collectors have many years of negotiation and collection experience and many hold college and graduate degrees.  We analyze every claim we receive and spend time to truly understand why payment has not been received.  We then develop a collection strategy that is customized and will give us the best chance of collection success.

If the collector is not successful in collecting, we immediately continue working the claim under the name of our in-house law firm.  No upfront or extra fees are charged for this second full collection effort.  You pay the same competitive contingency fee that was originally agreed to.

Only 3% of our successful claims require litigation.  In those rare instances when this is the only way to collect, we have an extensive network of collection attorneys throughout the USA who also work on a contingency basis, saving you thousands of dollars up front compared to hiring an attorney and paying hourly.

Our happy clients have honored us with an A+ rating on the Better Business Bureau, and we are one of only 250 agencies qualified with the International Association of Commercial Collectors.  We are the agency that will get your money.  Call us to discuss the specifics of your collection issue or fill out our simple Get a Free Quote form.  Don’t wait, contact us today!

Collection Agency Tips for Memphis Businesses

Before contacting a delinquent customer to discuss payment, it is important to gather all the information relating to the debt including copies of past due invoices, purchase orders, credit memos, proofs of delivery, shipping instructions, the signed contract, applied and unapplied checks, details of disputed items, and any email threads relating to the debt.  The debt collector should also look carefully at recent payment history as well as any published trade organization payment information for the debtor. Analyze the debtor’s financial data, and make sure the customer’s financial data on file is up to date.  Scrutiny of the debtor’s finances may provide the collector with helpful insight as to why the customer is not paying, and this insight may be useful when the collector is discussing the delinquency with the debtor.

Phone contact is the most effective way to get the debt collection process going.  With all the relevant information at hand, the debt collector should call the person at the company who is authorized to make payments.  It is imperative that the collector approach the debt collection with the goal of collecting the full amount owed.  Try to avoid small talk and get the customer talking about the reason for the delinquency.  The debt collector must be a good listener, but also keep the discussion on point.  If the customer makes a promise, be sure to follow-up on the exact day the promise was to be fulfilled.  Keep following up until payment is received.
