Our Mission

Since The Kaplan Group opened its doors twenty-five years ago, our mission has never changed:  collect the money owed to our clients for every valid invoice generated.  We diligently work a claim until we either collect, or we determine that your customer is out of business.  We work hard for our clients, and our 85% success rate proves that we are the agency to hire if you are serious about wanting to get paid what you are owed.  What fuels our success?  Below are some of the many reasons:

1. When we receive a claim, we put together a custom collection strategy that specifically addresses the circumstances of that claim. We carefully analyze the claim to understand why your customer isn’t paying before we pick up the phone to place the first collection call.  We never have and never will use scripts, canned letter series or auto dialers.  Once we have the debtor talking, we adjust our collection strategy as appropriate which maximizes our chances of a successful collection effort.

2. Our collectors are a cut above because we only hire professionals with extensive prior work, collection and negotiation experience. Many of our collectors have held management, consulting, and executive positions earlier in their careers and have collectively negotiated over $500 million of transactions in the USA and abroad.  Many also hold advanced degrees including MBAs and JDs.  These exceptional qualifications taken together have enabled our team to achieve our exceptional 85% success rate.

3. Our staff includes an in-house attorney who takes over if the initial collection effort doesn’t bear fruit, performing a complete second collection effort for no additional fee. We pursue litigation in less than 3% of our successful cases; however, we are fully prepared to go the legal route if that is our only option to get your money.  We have developed an extensive network of collection attorneys nationwide who also work on a contingency basis, and we will manage the process for you.

The Kaplan Group is ready to be your trusted debt collection partner.  Our satisfied clients have rewarded us with lots of 5 star reviews online and we are proud to have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.  If you are serious about solving your debt collection issues, then The Kaplan Group is your agency.  Pick up the phone and give us a call or fill out our simple Get a Free Quote form.

Collection Agency Tips for Louisville Businesses

Frequently, our clients request that we add collection fees to the principal due amount that we are collecting.  Unfortunately, in the USA, this is possible only if there is a formal signed agreement between your customer and your company that states this explicitly.  The same is true for adding attorney fees to the principal due amount, and simply adding this clause to your invoices may not suffice in a court of law.  To protect yourself in the event your customer doesn’t pay, you need a document signed by your customer stating that they are responsible for collection costs and/or attorney fees in the event they don’t pay on time.  The easiest way to get this is to add it to your Credit Application because the customer typically signs this document at the start of your business relationship.  A collection agency may or may not be able to successfully collect collection fees, but having the right to pursue them gives the agency significantly more negotiation power during the debt collection, litigation and judgment collection activities.
